Beginner friendly workshop where we’ll be making 2D Vases (which aren’t exactly 2D, but almost so!) Using the slab method of hand building we’ll construct our vases from two identically cut slabs. Each student will get to template their own shape, finish the edges according to their preference, and add any decorative details (handles, etc) as they wish. Those that prefer a hand-painted surface design can use underglazes during class to decorate with, otherwise I will be offering to glaze the pieces for you in alabaster (off-white) or matte black.
Finished pieces will be up to 7” high, and are the perfect size and shape to accommodate just one or two blooming stems from your garden or morning walk. They will also stand alone as objects of art in their own right.
Pieces will be glazed and fired to 2230°F and ready for you to pick up in approx. 3 weeks from the class date.
Light Refreshments will be provided, but please BYOB if you wish.
Just a little note on time: classes generally run between 2 and 2.5 hours. Everyone works at a unique pace. You may finish your project within 2 hours, but I want everyone to feel comfortable with 2.5 hours if needed.
